Tolstoy argues that poetics should be understood by all and should not be exclusive to those that can decipher it. But isn't all forms similar? complex Mathmatics is only understood by learned peoples. Should then, mathmatics be simplified so every person can understand? Absolutely not. Where is the progression in that? The reason poetics is ever changing into hidden meanings and metaphors is to keep the mind active and moving forward to progress and excercise the minds abilities. Art should not be something accessable to all, cept when all have evolved enough to access it. It should be created to make people think.
